Obsessed with: Missoni for Target

I am sure by now everyone may be a little sick of hearing about Missoni for Target.

Ok, so basically when Target has these designer events, I need to confess that I get a little stressed out.  I never know if I should wake up early and go online or head to the nearest store as soon as they open...

With Calypso, I got there about an hour after the store opened, and there was still tons available.  Although the home section was ransacked and I was unable to score the metallic pouf I had my eye on.

Tuesday morning, on my way to the store, I was on the telephone with a friend in Hoboken as she arrived at her Target.  She was so disappointed to see that there was literally nothing left.  I for sure thought it would be a different story at my Target here in Charleston.  I assumed that there would be tons still at my store, especially since I had gotten there just 30 minutes after store opening... well I was wrong.

I was able to score this amazing pillows, so I can't really complain.. but that was about it.  I saw some girl clothing for Tessa but wasn't sure, so I left with 3 pillows in tow.

(these are the best pictures I could get.  It is a rainy morning and there are a bunch of lazy ones of the sofa watching TV.)

As embarrassed as I am to say, I thought I was over the Missoni-Mania, but found myself at a different Target location yesterday.  I had some time to spare before a doctor appointment, and thought it would be a good idea to see if there were any returns, or items leftover.   I did pretty well actually.

I score these pants for myself, which could be great for post-baby lounging but cute enough to run around town in with some ballet flats and a cardigan.

As for Ms. Tessa, I got her the ballet flats which I was unsure of at my first visit and this insane velvet coat.  I don't think the shoes will last long, but the coat is a definite keeper.

Did you get caught up in the madness?

Organized baby: 3 weeks to go

So I was on a crazy search for a baby bag.  I was looking for something that was practical and stylish.  All the bags which were from the "diaper bag" category, well sort of lame, and totally too babyish.  In the end I ended up going with a tote-style handbag instead.

And I bought this guy today, which basically makes any bag into a diaper bag.  I had one when Charlie was a baby and kept it under the stroller, I am not sure where it went.  So this baby gets a new one.  It is great because it is small, it has pockets for wipes, diapers and has a zip off changing pad for when you need to change the little one on the go.

Now I have a bag I love and it can officially be called a "diaper bag" with the addition of this.

Organized baby: 5 weeks to go

I am starting to think about baby annoucements and stationary.
I am really just browsing around online since we don't know if this baby is a boy or a girl.

I also am trying to find my address list.  We got a new computer in December and I think the list is saved on the old one, so I guess I am going to have to dig it up.

Obsessed with: this shirt

Just because I am at the end of this pregnancy, does not mean it's time to throw in the fashion towel, and just wear giant t-shirts and sweatpants.  I always feel my best in a cute ensemble.

While I want to look put together, I certainly don't want to make any maternity clothing investments at this point.  This weekend, I hit up Old Navy for a few inexpensive items to spruce up my maternity wardrobe.

I scored this great button-down, it isn't maternity, just a a size up.  I love it.  It's comfortable and light, and will be an easy shirt to wear after the baby is born too.

I wish it came in some more cute colors and patterns..  but I am loving this gingham.

Obsessed with: Tiny Toms

We bought these for the kids this weekend.  I am obsessed.

This is actually Charlie's second pair.  They are just so cute I can't handle it.
They got lots of compliments already too.

I also love that they are making the kid's ones now with a rubber bottom so they don't slip.

Obsessed with: Target

Look at all these great back-to-school items I scored... I mean seriously, does it get any cuter?

Organized baby: 10 weeks to go

I need to order these guys for the changing table.  Aren't they just the cutest?  I think they are going to look amazing all lined up on the shelves of the changing table.  I can't think of a cuter way to organize all the baby's things.

Obsessed with: this shampoo and conditioner

I have frizzy, wavy, out of control hair.  During the cooler months it isn't too much of a problem.  I can easily tame my mane by blow drying straight.  But in the warm Southern summer months, it is another story.

In the past I have done the permanent Keratin straightening process.  This worked well, but the downside is that it may be really bad for you, and also not recommended to do while pregnant.  So that leads me to quicker options.

I have pretty much bought every shampoo, conditioner, and hair product that promises smooth non-frizzy hair.  Anything with the the words "sleek," "shine," "ice," or "straight" I have purchased in the hopes to control my crazy hair.  Usually the results are non-existent.

Well on a recent trip to the supermarket I saw a display of this shampoo, so I figured I would give it a try.  It is great.  I am obsessed!  My hair feels smooth and frizz-free.

Organized moment: fruits and veggies

These are also great for organizing your fruits and veggies.  I have gotten them for people as gifts before.  I think they are so pretty.

Obsessed with: Jack's sweet potato mustard

I am obsessed with this mustard.  It is from a local hot dog place in Charleston, Jack's Cosmic Dogs.  It is a cute roadside eatery that gets tons of local attention, and has been on the Food Network a bunch as well.  And while I may get some flack about my usual order at Jack's (a veggie dog), the best part to me is the blue cheese slaw and sweet potato mustard.   While I can recreate the blue cheese slaw at home, the sweet potato mustard is one of a kind!

Last weekend, we took a jar of this delicious concoction home with us, and it does not disappoint.  I think it would taste good on anything.  Today I made a ham and cheese quesadilla, perfect pairing for sweet potato mustard!  I am totally obsessed.  You can buy it online or if  you are lucky enough to live in Charleston, there is a Jack's in Mt. Pleasant and Folly Beach.

Obsessed with: target diapers

I have tried all the different brands of diapers.  I have to say Target diapers are the best, their wipes are good too.  Their brand Up and Up has great packaging, it looks so fresh and simple, it really does make it fun to buy the basics like diapers and wipes.  Good job on the marketing Target, you got me!  Plus, the dots are super cute.

Obsessed with: Calypso for Target

Ok so this was a big weekend, and it had nothing to do with the Royal Wedding.  I actually didn't even pay attention to all the media surrounding the nuptials of Kate and William as I was eagerly obsessing and awaiting the arrival of Calypso at Target.

Among my friends and I we all had our calendars marked for May 1.  The day when the beloved clothing line, Calypso arrived at Target.  We arrived Sunday morning at 8:15 to snatch up some goodies before they were all gone.    And believe me, there were people that were waiting outside before the opening of the store at 8:00 and they really went on a mad shop, totally "supermarket sweep style."

I think I got some goodies...  Did you get in on the Calypso Target action?

Obsessed with: these flip-flops

I ordered these online a few weeks with not very high expectations.   I mean for $12 how great could they be, plus they are "faux" leather...   Well guess what, they are amazing and I am totally obsessed.  I haven't taken them off.  I may need to hop into Old Navy and stock up on a few more pairs.  I got gold but they come in some other cute colors... neon, animal print, silver.

Plus they are having a sale until May 1.  Buy one, get the 2nd half off.  It doesn't get better than that!  Now go get a pedicure and slip on a pair of these guys.

Obsessed with: american apparel clutch

I  love this clutch and think it is a perfect summer accessory.  I added a Louis Vuitton scarf to the zipper pull to make it look even more amazing.

Organization tip: spring closet

This past weekend, since it is officially amazing warm weather in the South, I decided to do a little spring cleaning of my closet.  It feels clean and fresh.. and I am ready to throw together some cute warm weather looks.   Here's some ideas...

I organized my handbags into groups based on sized.  I put some heavy ones higher up in the closet, and broke out some summery ones, wicker, light colors, etc.

I put away most of my boots and made room for sandals, espadrilles, clogs and floral shoes.

I did keep 2 pairs of boots out, a light colored pair of riding boots and some black over the knee boots, just in case.  I also like to make little displays in my closet of some of my favorites... like this sequin jacket, mink shawl and vintage Chanel heels.

In the place where my boots were, I made sure my shorts and jeans had plenty of room.

I kept a few sweaters down, the rest went in big bins on top of my closet.
I also cleaned out my tanks and t-shirts and got rid of anything that was not fresh looking.

In general, I use only white hangers and organize my hanging shirts by color.
I put heavier jackets and sweaters to the back.

I made sure cute summer accessories were out on display and ready to go.

And lastly, you can never have enough cute dresses...

happy spring  xo.

Obsessed with: my new car

For those of you who know me well, know that I have been looking for a new car.  While I love my station wagon, I have had it for a while now, and it would be nice to get something new.

Well I am totally excited because we finally found it!  From the moment I saw it, I knew it was a perfect fit.  It is amazing and I am totally obsessed!

Obsessed with: vintage jewelry finds

A few weeks ago I went to a local thrift shop and found some amazing vintage jewelry.  I think they are going to be great pieces for spring and summer.  I love wearing something vintage, it really makes me feel a little extra creative.   I am totally obsessed!

Obsessed with: wooden kids products

I am sort of obsessed with my kids playing with wooden toys instead of plastic ones*.  It has nothing to do with chemicals or environmental concerns, etc.  It is purely aesthetic.  I just feel like if there are going to be toys visible around my house, they should at least be of good design.

Here are some of my favorites.

Play Kitchen by Educo

Dump Truck by Plan Toys

Tool Bench by Melissa and Doug

High Chair by Stokke

Musical Instruments by Plan Toys

Interchangeable Cars by Automoblox

Ride-on Cow by Prince Lion Heart

*As the years have gone on, we have definitely acquired some plastic toys along the way, but the wooden ones are certainly my favorite!
