An organized moment: laundry sorting

One of the main things I have noticed going from 2 kids to 3 is the amount of laundry and trash.  I can't remember but I think I did laundry just a few days ago, and again today!

Organized moment: up and at 'em

I know this is totally crazy but for no good reason I got out of bed this morning right after my husband at 5:30.  I know this seems silly, and he thought I was totally nutty as I got up put my gym clothes on and started my day way before the sun (and kids) were up.

I just love the feeling of starting the day alone...  I have some time to work on a painting, drink some coffee in peace and listen to some music before the madness ensues.

Organized moment: nothingness

I woke up this morning after my usual 10 hours of sleep (I may as well enjoy it now before baby arrives in a few months) and I went through my mental checklist of what needed to be done today.

laundry... nope
empty the dishwasher... nope
any errands to run... nope
plans... nope

While I  do love those days of running around getting things done.  Once in a while, we have days with a wide open agenda.  This is the ultimate organized moment, an empty to do list.

Organized moment: 6:00 wake-up.

For the first time in a while I am up early.  Maybe it was the little jet lag from our recent trip to San Francisco or the fact that I am nearly 5 months pregnant but I just can't seem to get out of bed in the mornings.

Well this morning I was up at 6:00.  I made my bed, dressed in gym clothes (even my sneakers), paid some bills, let Dexter out and fed him, ate my breakfast, packed our school / gym bags for the day and wrote this blog post.

Hmmm? Now what should I do?

Organized moment: SF packing list

I feel like we just got back from New York and now we are heading to San Francisco.  I didn't draw out my outfits for the New York trip.  I thought it would have been too much for a 10 day trip.  And as it turns out my clothing options were sort of awful.  Maybe it was the lack of planning or the unpredictable weather.  Hopefully I will be better prepared for San Francisco this week.

When the drawing was scanned, I also made a copy so I could highlight and cross things out as they were packed so nothing was forgotten.

Organized moment: unpacking

We just got home last night after a 10 day trip to New York.  It was so much fun seeing family, friends, visiting our favorite places.

But let's get down to the organized part.  When I walked in the door.  The house was just as a left it, perfectly organized... toys in their places, dishwasher was clean with only a few items to put away, beds made...  I could hear the sound of birds singing in my head.

Then arrived my nemesis....  THE SUITCASES.

Whenever we arrive home from a trip I am in usually in the worse mood, overwhelmed and stressed out because I feel the need to unpack within 5 minutes of walking in the door.  I hardly give myself a moment to check email, read my mail all in the effort to unpack in some sort of record time, as I am in the Organized and Obsessed Olympics...  Yesterday was a little different.

My first priority was putting the kids to bed.  And then I unpacked their suitcase and laid out all their clothes on the floor to be put away.  I may be crazy but I didn't want to disturb their reunion with their cozy beds just so that I can fulfill my obsession to be unpacked in record time.  That will be done this morning when they are up.

Next I brought the "laundry bag" to its proper home in the laundry room.  During the trip we use one bag for dirty clothing so that when we return home it is easy to take care of.  I actually didn't even start doing the laundry until this morning... although I am not looking forward to folding and putting away since all the clothing is mixed...  mine, his, kids.. oh my!

Then I unpacked our bag, put it all away.   A piece of cake.   After a long trip, I can't stand to look at those suitcases for any longer than needed.

How long does it take all of you to unpacked without a trace of your holiday lingering?
